Position Overview
The Chief Program Officer (CPO) provides strategic leadership and oversight for all First & Gold Foundation programs. This role is responsible for program design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
The CPO works closely with the Executive Director, Managing Director, and Board of Directors to strengthen program effectiveness, ensure participant safety, and support organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Program Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and oversee the organization’s program strategy and long-term program vision
- Ensure programs align with First & Gold Foundation’s mission, values, and community needs
- Translate strategic goals into actionable, scalable programs
Program Development & Management
- Design, implement, and oversee youth and family programs, including sports, tournaments, scholarships, and related initiatives
- Establish program standards, timelines, and outcomes
- Ensure programs are delivered safely, ethically, and consistently
Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact
- Develop metrics to measure program effectiveness and participant outcomes
- Track, analyze, and report program data to leadership and the Board
- Use data and feedback to continuously improve program quality and impact
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure programs comply with child protection, safety, and risk management policies
- Collaborate with leadership on policies related to travel, supervision, and participant safety
- Identify program-related risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the CFO on program budgets and resource planning
- Support fundraising and grant efforts by providing program data, narratives, and outcomes
- Collaborate with communications and marketing leadership to ensure accurate program messaging
Qualifications
- Experience in program management, nonprofit leadership, education, youth development, or sports-based programming
- Strong understanding of program design, implementation, and evaluation
- Experience working with youth and families preferred
- Familiarity with nonprofit governance and best practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Mission-driven, collaborative, and solutions-oriented mindset
Time Commitment
- Approximately 10–12 hours per week
- Flexible schedule; occasional evening or weekend availability may be required during events or peak program periods
