Role Overview
The Journey Entry Evaluator serves as the essential first point of contact for individuals eager to volunteer with TPCA. This impactful role blends emotional intelligence, discernment, and trauma-informed care to match volunteers with opportunities where they’ll flourish. Evaluators create space for honest reflection and “hard truths,” helping identify candidates who are truly prepared to co-steward our mission and uphold our core values. By guiding applicants through a safe, inclusive, and empowering onboarding experience, this position safeguards both the integrity of TPCA and the wellbeing of each volunteer.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Outreach
- Screening & Intake
- Monitor submissions and confirm signed agreements
- Conduct 20–30 minute screening interviews using TPCA’s trauma-informed framework
- Document alignment, concerns, and red flags neutrally
- Onboarding & Placement
- Coordinate onboarding paperwork and tech integration (Microsoft/Google)
- Conduct Administrative Orientation
- Connect volunteers to supervisors and teams
- Use TPCA’s “Path of Belonging” to recommend placement levels
- Student & Event-Based Recruitment
- Outreach to colleges and coordinate internships
- Manage “lite” onboarding for event-specific volunteers
Qualifications
- Deep empathy and strong interpersonal communication
- Organized and detail-oriented, with experience in recruitment or volunteer coordination
- Comfortable using digital tools (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Canva, etc.)
- Trauma-informed mindset and commitment to inclusive practices
- Able to balance professionalism with encouragement
- Passionate about TPCA’s mission and community care
