Adult English Language Tutor

Our caring volunteer English tutors help empower adult learners to accomplish their goals! If you are compassionate; able to read, write and speak English; able to volunteer 2-3 hours per week; and are 18 years or older; please consider becoming a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut (LVSCT). Training and materials are provided to you at no cost.

LVSCT offers free one-on-one tutoring for adults who want to learn to speak English or enhance the reading, writing, speaking, comprehension, pronunciation and conversational skills necessary to thrive in their communities.

As the ability to speak and understand the language improve, more opportunities may open to adult learners, including finding work, job training, obtaining professional certifications, participating in children’s education, reducing the fear and discomfort of speaking a new language, and integrating into the community.

Please note: Tutoring can be done in-person from many locations in the greater Milford/Stratford CT areas, and can also be done virtually.
