Cultural Field Scout & Heritage Organizer (Remote / California Fieldwork)

    About Us:

We are a mission-driven, non-profit organization focused on the digital preservation of small nations, indigenous languages, and endangered cultural heritage. We believe that technology should serve communities, not exploit them.

While big tech companies scrape the internet to commercialize data, we are building a protected digital archive—a secure space where unique voices, oral histories, and traditions (such as the Kumeyaay Bird Songs and distinct global diasporas) are preserved on the terms of the communities themselves. We prioritize Data Sovereignty above all else.

We are launching a dynamic, community-first ecosystem in California, and we need passionate, empathetic "scouts" to help us bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and future technology.

The Role (What you’ll actually do):

This is a flexible, highly rewarding volunteer position for natural networkers and cultural enthusiasts. You will be our boots on the ground (and online), uncovering the hidden gems of cultural heritage.

Community Mapping: Explore local ethnic neighborhoods, cultural events, traditional markets, and senior daycare centers to identify native speakers and traditional craft bearers.

Trust Building: Initiate warm, respectful, and ethical conversations with community members and elders to explain our non-commercial preservation mission.

Digital Sourcing: Empower families to record their own elders using our simple, non-intrusive "Family Heritage Kits."

Event Outreach: Participate in cultural festivals and university events to connect with indigenous advocates and researchers.

    Who You Are:

You are an idealist who believes cultural diversity is a global treasure that must be protected.

You are empathetic, an active listener, and deeply respectful of elders and diverse traditions.

You care about data ethics and are uncomfortable with corporate AI exploitation of community knowledge.

You love exploring, asking questions, and connecting people. (No prior tech or linguistic background required—we train you on the ethical fieldwork protocols!).

    What’s in it for you?

Real Impact: You won't be doing busywork. You will be directly saving languages and oral histories from digital extinction.

Community & Networking: Join a global network of dedicated tech architects, media creators, legal experts, and cultural advocates.

Resume Builder: Gain hands-on experience in ethical fieldwork, community organizing, and NPO project management within the US market.

Total Flexibility: 100% remote-friendly coordination. You explore your local area on your own schedule.

    How to Apply:

If you want to use your energy to build technology that remembers, we want to meet you.

Please apply directly by filling out our Volunteer Application Form here

    Next Steps & Long-term Opportunities

Please note: While this project is launching on a volunteer basis to build our initial community and test our tour routes, we are actively looking for a dedicated core team for long-term cooperation. For goal-oriented and committed team members, there will be opportunities to transition into paid, independent contractor roles (1099 contracts) as we scale our cultural expeditions and secure upcoming grants and commercial partnerships.
