The Event
Day of Creativity is a Saturday morning event that invites artists of all ages to connect and create together!
The Role
The Co-Lead Volunteer for Day of Creativity (DOC Co-Lead) will be a compassionate and reliable leader who can commit one Saturday each month to overseeing this recurring event in Pacoima and/or Palmdale, including supply transportation to and from our office in Valencia. The DOC Lead should be able to commit to at least 6 months in this role. On-site training will be provided by ML staff. DOC Lead will start taking the reigns once both they and the Program Manager feel they're ready.
Required responsibilities of the DOC Lead include:
- Packing up and transporting supplies to and from our office in Santa Clarita and the event site in Pacoima and/or Palmdale 1-2 weekends each month
- Leading team of volunteers to set up and take down art supplies, info table, prize table, and small lawn games
- Log number of participants and number of canvases used at each event
- Encouraging young artists to express themselves through play and creation!
- Represent Million Little with professionalism, warmth, and a trauma-informed approach to working with youth and community partners. Training provided.
- Taking photos and videos of the event (only using Million Little devices and following Million Little's protocol)
Other details to note
- Ideally, this role will be shared by two people! Couples, friends, family members are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants proficient in Spanish are highly encouraged to apply.
- DOC takes place in Pacoima and Palmdale on Saturday mornings, but supplies are to be picked up and dropped of in Santa Clarita before and after the event. Pickup could be anytime Thursday-Saturday morning and drop-off would ideally be Monday or Tuesday.
- DOC Leads must pass a Live Scan background check
