Migrant Support Collective (MSC) is a fiscally sponsored project of Organized Communities Against Deportations (OCAD). MSC runs direct service and advocacy programs dedicated to supporting the well-being of migrants detained in the United States. By advocating for the rights of those impacted by the immigration detention system, we strive towards a future of collective liberation, where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
MSC is based in Chicago, and operates on both a local and national level. Volunteers may be located anywhere, so long as they have access to a computer/laptop and internet.
We are seeking a native or fluent Arabic speaker to support our Art as Advocacy Program by translating program materials from English to Arabic. These materials help participants understand the program, feel welcomed, and access information clearly and respectfully.
All content will be provided in English via Google Docs. This role focuses on translation (not original writing) and centers clear, accessible, plain-language Arabic for community members impacted by immigration detention.
This is a one-time volunteer project, with the possibility of ongoing translation support for future materials if you’re interested.
Your work will directly support migrants participating in a creative advocacy program by ensuring they receive information in a language that is clear, respectful, and accessible. This is a meaningful way to contribute skills to a community-centered, justice-oriented program with a manageable and flexible commitment.
Migrant Support Collective is committed to building an organization that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. This includes diversity in languages spoken, countries of origin, immigration status, culture, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We encourage folks of all identities to join the collective.
