Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Volunteer

Description

Circle of Care St. Louis is seeking volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, an IRS-sponsored initiative that provides free, reliable tax preparation to individuals and families in our community. As a VITA Volunteer, you’ll help neighbors access important tax credits and refunds that strengthen financial stability.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome and assist clients with intake forms and the interview process
• Prepare and review tax returns using IRS-approved software (training provided)
• Ensure accuracy and confidentiality in every client interaction
• Create a supportive, welcoming environment for all participants

Qualifications:

• No prior tax experience required — full training and IRS certification provided
• Strong communication and people skills
• Interest in community service, financial literacy, or social impact
• Ability to commit at least 4 hours per week from January–April 2026
• Must complete training beginning in November 2025
