Joe's Pantry Volunteer Pantry Assistant

Joe’s Pantry is a client-choice food pantry serving individuals and families in the North Dallas community. Located near 635/LBJ and connected to St. Jude Park Central, the pantry also serves residents who have transitioned from homelessness into permanent housing.

At Joe’s Pantry, clients are able to select the food and grocery items that best meet their needs. Volunteers play an important role in keeping the pantry stocked, organized, and ready to serve our neighbors.

Come join us and help create a welcoming and organized pantry for our community!

This volunteer opportunity may include:

• Restocking food and grocery items on pantry shelves
• Sorting and organizing food donations
• Bagging produce and other food items
• Preparing the pantry before or during service hours
• Assisting with set-up and clean-up
• Other pantry-related tasks as needed

Attire:

Closed-toe shoes are required (no sandals or flip-flops). We recommend wearing comfortable, casual clothing appropriate for the season and suitable for an active volunteer shift.

To help create a welcoming environment for everyone we serve, we ask volunteers to wear clothing that is appropriate for a community service setting and free from political, discriminatory, derogatory, or offensive messages or imagery.

Commitment:

Please plan to stay for the full volunteer shift. Volunteers may be standing, walking, bending, stocking shelves, and lifting boxes weighing approximately 16–20 pounds throughout the shift.

Parking and Arrival Instructions:

Volunteers may park in front of the building near the flagpoles. From there, walk through the gate and enter through the front door of Joe’s Pantry.

Once inside, please ask for Devon or Abbas, who will provide a tour of the pantry and instructions for your volunteer shift.

Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled shift to check in and receive instructions from the site team.

Things to Remember:

You are welcome to bring:

• Water
• A small snack
• Hand sanitizer
• Work gloves, if preferred

Lockers are available for volunteers to securely store personal belongings while volunteering.

• Age Requirements:

The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old.

Volunteers ages 14–17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and must submit a Minor Volunteer Waiver before volunteering.
