Board Member - Treasurer - Shared-Equity Senior Housing Nonprofit

Boomers Collaborative Foundation seeks a volunteer Board Treasurer who would like to use their financial experience to help advance an innovative and urgently needed approach to affordable senior housing.

We are an Austin-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to create mixed-use, limited-equity cooperative housing where older adults can age together with greater affordability, stability, and connection. With our market study completed and funded community outreach underway, this is a meaningful time to join our Board and help move the work forward.

Our Treasurer provides Board-level financial oversight. We have professional bookkeeping and accounting support, so this is not a bookkeeping position. The Treasurer reviews financial information, helps the Board understand the organization’s financial position, and works with our President and accountant to maintain sound financial practices.

How you can help ...

• Review monthly financial reports and provide a brief update at Board meetings
• Participate in annual budget preparation and budget monitoring
• Review or help prepare grant budgets
• Help oversee cash management, restricted funds, and internal financial controls
• Coordinate with our accountant when questions or reporting needs arise
• Work with our accountant to help the Board understand financial matters and make informed decisions
• Participate in Board discussions and decisions as a voting director

• Reviewing financial statements and explaining financial information clearly
• Serving on a nonprofit Board or working with a small mission-driven organization

Prior Board experience is helpful but not required. We welcome inquiries from people who care about affordable housing, aging, cooperatives, community development, or economic security and whose experience may not match every item listed above.
