Register Volunteer with the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, Chardon, OH

Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment:

1. Interact with customers at the point of sale, answering phone and responding to customer questions
2. Encourage Discovery Rewards Program. This is a key metric for our shop, and every customer should be asked to put their phone number in for their Rewards. Volunteer should be willing to make at least one small pitch for uncertain customers.
3. Ring up purchases on Square and balance drawers. Our POS system is very easy to learn and allows us to track which departments are bringing in the most in sales. Certain tag colors are 50% off every month, so the volunteer should be responsive and flexible to this. Drawers should be counted in the morning and in the evening (volunteer is not liable for discrepancies).
4. People person, willing to learn, excited about the shop and the Rewards program, detail-oriented, patient, determined, positive attitude.

Who will be served by this assignment? Our customers at the Discovery Shop who come makes purchases to donate to the American Cancer Society.

What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service? Customers will have a positive experience at the shop and will return to make future purchases.

What specific skills will the volunteer need? Standing for potentially long periods (stool is available for breaks), turning and bending, possibly heavy lifting (not obligated, help is available), dexterity.
