Marketing, Communications & Digital Project Lead
Descripción
Descripción
The Marketing, Communications & Digital Project Lead serves as a cross-functional coordinator connecting F.O.U.N.D.’s Marketing, social media, and Web teams. This position provides the structure, communication, and follow-through needed to move projects from ideas to completion in a clear, organized, and collaborative way.
The Lead does not replace the creative or technical expertise of individual team members. Instead, this role aligns teams by establishing clear goals, responsibilities, priorities, timelines, and communication practices. The Lead helps ensure that volunteers understand what they are responsible for, how their work connects to the larger F.O.U.N.D. mission, and what needs to happen next.
This is a highly collaborative role for someone who enjoys organizing people and projects, creating clarity from competing ideas, identifying gaps or roadblocks, and helping teams successfully move work forward.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the primary coordination point between Marketing, Social Media, and Web.
- Help ensure that projects and communications are aligned across the three teams.
- Identify areas of overlap, duplication, gaps, or conflicting priorities.
- Facilitate communication between team leaders and volunteers when projects cross departmental boundaries.
- Ensure that information, decisions, and changes are communicated to the appropriate people.
- Help create a cohesive approach to F.O.U.N.D.’s public-facing communications and digital presence.
Project & Task Management
- Translate organizational goals and ideas into clear projects, tasks, and deliverables.
- Establish project priorities, timelines, milestones, and responsible team members.
- Ensure every project has a clear owner and defined expectations.
- Track progress and follow up on outstanding tasks and deadlines.
- Identify stalled, unclear, or resource-deficient projects and help determine next steps.
- Maintain visibility into what is being worked on, what is upcoming, and what remains incomplete.
- Help teams move projects through planning, development, review, approval, and completion.
Volunteer Role & Responsibility Alignment
- Work with team leads to establish clear responsibilities for volunteers.
- Help ensure volunteer assignments reflect each person’s skills, interests, availability, and role.
- Clarify who is responsible for decisions, task completion, work review, and approvals.
- Identify unclear or overlapping responsibilities and work with leadership to resolve them.
- Help establish realistic expectations for volunteer contributions and project timelines.
Goals & Planning
- Partner with Marketing, Social Media, and Web leads to establish clear and measurable project goals.
- Help teams distinguish between ideas, priorities, active projects, and future initiatives.
- Support development of short-term and longer-term communication and digital priorities.
- Help ensure departmental goals support F.O.U.N.D.’s overall mission and organizational priorities.
- Assist with creating project plans, calendars, workflows, and other tools that improve visibility and accountability.
Communication & Follow-Through
- Facilitate regular project check-ins or coordination meetings when appropriate.
- Develop clear agendas, action items, and follow-up communications.
- Document decisions and ensure assigned actions are communicated to the appropriate volunteers.
- Follow up respectfully with volunteers regarding outstanding tasks and deadlines.
- Escalate significant delays, resource concerns, or unresolved issues to the appropriate leadership.
- Promote a culture of accountability that remains supportive, respectful, and volunteer-centered.
Process & Workflow Development
- Help establish consistent workflows for cross-functional projects.
- Develop simple processes for project intake, prioritization, assignment, review, and completion.
- Identify opportunities to reduce confusion, unnecessary duplication, and communication gaps.
- Recommend improvements to how Marketing, Social Media, and Web teams collaborate.
- Help establish systems that make it easier for volunteers to understand what is happening across the organization.
Collaboration
This position works closely with:
- Marketing
- Social Media
- Web
- Design
- Video
- Programs
- People & Culture
- Founder
- Other volunteer leads and contributors as needed
Because many F.O.U.N.D. initiatives require contributions from multiple teams, the Lead should have a broad organizational perspective and be comfortable coordinating across departments without assuming ownership of every team’s specialized work.
Desired Skills & Experience
The ideal volunteer will have experience in project coordination, project management, marketing operations, communications, digital operations, team coordination, or a related field.
Helpful skills include:
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple projects
- Strong follow-up and accountability skills
- Ability to create clarity from ambiguous or competing ideas
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams
- Ability to develop simple, practical workflows and processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to document tasks, decisions, and next steps
- Comfort working with volunteers in a collaborative environment
- Ability to communicate expectations clearly while maintaining a supportive approach
- Ability to recognize when a project needs additional clarification, resources, or leadership involvement
Experience with project management, collaboration, or task-management platforms is helpful but not required.
Leadership Approach
The Marketing, Communications & Digital Project Lead should lead through clarity, coordination, communication, and support rather than authority.
