    Volunteer Opportunity: Assistant Director

    Ocean State Disaster Team (OSDT)

    Position Type: Volunteer

    Location: North Smithfield, RI / Hybrid Opportunities Available

    Minimum Age: 21 Years Old

    Volunteer Commitment: Up to 10 Hours Per Week

    About the Role

    The Assistant Director plays an important leadership role in supporting the daily administrative operations of the Ocean State Disaster Team. This volunteer will work closely with the Development Director and leadership team to ensure volunteer records, communications, and organizational programs are managed efficiently.

    This position is ideal for someone who is organized, dependable, enjoys working with people, and wants to make a meaningful impact in their community.

    Responsibilities

    • Enter and maintain data in organizational computer systems and databases.
    • Maintain volunteer information and records.
    • Track and record volunteer service hours.
    • Process and organize volunteer applications.
    • Assist with mass mailings for fundraising campaigns and community events.
    • Coordinate volunteer appreciation initiatives.
    • Help onboard and enroll new volunteers into OSDT programs.
    • Create volunteer name tags and identification materials.
    • Prepare informational cards and volunteer resources.
    • Assist with volunteer orientation sessions.
    • Operate the office switchboard and answer incoming calls when needed.
    • Collaborate with the Development Director on fundraising, outreach, and organizational initiatives.
    • Provide administrative support to the leadership team as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Applicants should have experience with:

    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Google Workspace
    • Basic computer skills and data entry
    • Basic office and reception procedures
    • Strong communication skills
    • Excellent people and customer service skills
    • Ability to maintain confidential information
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Requirements

    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
    • Must be able to volunteer up to 10 hours per week.
    • Must be dependable, professional, and committed to the mission of Ocean State Disaster Team.
    • Background check may be required in accordance with organizational policies.
