Volunteer Graphic Designer

About the Role

AfriGenetry Link is seeking a creative and reliable Volunteer Graphic Designer to support our Communications & Marketing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys using visual storytelling to communicate meaningful ideas around heritage, genealogy, genomic health, education, community engagement, and the global African diaspora.

The Graphic Designer will help strengthen AGL’s visual presence across social media, events, campaigns, programs, and organizational communications while maintaining consistency with our brand.

Responsibilities

• Design social media graphics, flyers, event materials, announcements, and campaign content.
• Create visual materials for AGL programs, webinars, Community DNA Pop Up Events, fundraising campaigns, and community initiatives.
• Develop presentations, brochures, banners, reports, and other digital or print materials when needed.
• Work closely with the Communications & Marketing team to translate ideas and written content into engaging visuals.
• Maintain consistency with AGL’s branding, colors, typography, and overall visual identity.
• Resize and adapt designs for different social media platforms and communication channels.
• Collaborate with other team members on campaigns and special projects.
• Organize design files and templates so they can be easily accessed and reused by the team.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

• Has experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools.
• Has a strong eye for layout, typography, branding, and visual storytelling.
• Can create professional, modern, and culturally respectful designs.
• Is creative, dependable, and able to work collaboratively with a remote team.
• Can receive feedback and make revisions when needed.
• Is interested in Africa, the global African diaspora, genealogy, health, education, or community impact.
• Can commit approximately 5 hours per week.
