Throughout the year, The Salvation Army provides critical food services to help ensure our neighbors are fed year-round. This work begins with our drivers, who play a vital role in picking up and delivering food throughout our community.
Ways Our Drivers Help:
- Deliver hot meals to community centers during the week
- Monday–Friday | Approximately 10:15 AM – 1:00 PM, serving multiple locations
- Food Bank pickups and deliveries:
- Monday at 9:00 AM – Deliver to The Salvation Army Pantry
- Tuesday at 10:00 AM – Deliver to Barberton Salvation Army
- Thursday at 9:00 AM – Deliver to our Maple Street location
- Monthly Diaper Bank pickup in North Canton
- Deliver food for the University of Akron Campus Cupboard and pop-up pantries
- Transport meals for the Community Shower Bus program
Because of these many programs, we are in constant need of volunteer drivers.
What to Expect:
- Training provided by experienced drivers and Salvation Army staff
- Volunteer times vary depending on the project, and we are happy to work with your schedule
- The Salvation Army provides insurance for volunteers driving our vans, minivans, and box trucks
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Background check
- Completion of required online driver training
Every time you volunteer to drive, you become the first step in helping families, children, and individuals in need.
