As a Level 3 We Honor Veterans partner, we are dedicated to serving those who served our country, as well as supporting the broader community with dignity, respect, and holistic care.
Internship Overview
We are seeking motivated Nursing Interns who are passionate about hospice and palliative care. This hands-on internship offers the opportunity to work alongside our experienced hospice nurses and interdisciplinary team, gaining direct experience in clinical, patient support, and community-based care.
Key Learning Opportunities
- Patient Care Support: Shadow and assist hospice nurses with patient visits, comfort care measures, and symptom management.
- Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Participate in IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) meetings, collaborating with social workers, chaplains, and volunteers.
- End-of-Life Care Education: Learn about pain management, hospice regulations, and patient/family-centered care.
- Veteran-Focused Care: Support our We Honor Veterans program, including veteran recognition and Valor Ceremonies.
- Bereavement & Family Support: Observe bereavement programs and family communication strategies.
- Administrative Experience: Assist with documentation, charting (under supervision), and program support.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing program (BSN, ADN, or LPN track).
- Interest in hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, or community health nursing.
- Strong communication, empathy, and active listening skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance required).
- Background check, TB screening, and proof of immunizations required.
