KYRS Thin Air Community Radio is seeking a volunteer Grant Writer to help bring critical funding to the station through local, regional, and national grants from foundations, government agencies, and other funding partners.
Since 2003, KYRS has served Eastern Washington by amplifying diverse voices, supporting local culture, and fostering community engagement through independent, nonprofit radio. Grants are a vital part of how we sustain this work, and this role plays a direct part in keeping community radio strong.
As a KYRS Grant Writer, you’ll help turn our mission into compelling proposals that fund programming, journalism, and community outreach.
Research and track grant and funding opportunities KYRS is eligible for
Maintain a living spreadsheet of opportunities, deadlines, and requirements
Study funding models from other community radio stations and aligned nonprofits
Write and edit query letters, grant proposals, and reports
Assist with final reports for funders who support KYRS
This is a volunteer role ideal for someone who enjoys research, writing, organization, and mission-driven work and wants their skills to have a tangible, lasting impact on local media.
