Are you outgoing and love to serve as a host/hostess?
If your answer is yes, be a bingo host/hostess for our Yorkville Senior Center by volunteering for our Yorkville Beecher Activity Senior Center at Senior Services Associates!
Volunteering for our center makes a real difference for seniors and the Activity Coordinator of the center.
Currently, seniors are the only volunteers to run the bingo activities.
Reaping the benefits of reducing social isolation, this senior group also enjoys playing bingo.
Your assistance will also alleviate undue stress, enabling seniors to play without being concerned about selling bingo cards and raffle tickets.
Lightening the coordinator’s load will free her to handle and coordinate the evidence base programs that will create an additional impact on seniors.
Volunteers in the Activity Center can help with:
- Setting up the bingo calling station
- Turning the equipment on and making sure the microphone works properly
- Putting cards out on the table for the players to choose.
- Collecting money per card.
- Giving out door prize tickets and selling 50/50 tickets.
- Dividing collected money into 15 game-winning pots
- Giving the caller the dollar amount of winnings per game.
- Announcing the amount of the 50/50.
- Giving 50/50 money to the Activity Coordinator or Office Manager.
- Checking cards for accurate bingo winners and presenting winning money.
- Preparing cookie tray for break time.
- Cleaning up afterward
- Putting cards away
- Making sure the Bingo Machine is off
- Wiping down tables, if needed.
An ideal volunteer would be friendly and sociable, able to multi-task, not easily upset by criticism and not take it personally (thick-skinned), and able to handle conflict.
If you have time available to help, contact Rebecca Restagno to request a volunteer enrollment form and program information at rrestagno@seniorservicesassoc.org (best method) or call 630-553-4035.
