Do you have a calm presence and a heart for sitting with others in meaningful moments?
Hospice volunteers who offer guided meditation provide comfort, peace, and emotional support to patients who may be experiencing anxiety, restlessness, or fear. Through gentle breathing, guided imagery, and quiet presence, volunteers help create a soothing bedside environment that supports patients as they rest, reflect, or simply feel less alone.
This role is not about fixing or changing anything. It is about being present and holding space with compassion, respect, and steadiness.
What this volunteer role may include:
Offering short calming guided meditations or grounding exercises
Sitting quietly at the bedside to provide reassurance and presence
Supporting emotional comfort during times of transition
Working as a non-medical part of an interdisciplinary hospice care team
Who this is a good fit for:
Individuals with meditation, mindfulness, yoga, or spiritual care experience
Those who are comfortable with silence and gentle space holding
Compassionate listeners who honor diverse beliefs and experiences
People able to follow hospice guidelines and maintain professional boundaries
Training and support are provided. Prior meditation experience is helpful but not required. What matters most is your ability to offer compassion, steadiness and reliability.
If you feel called to bring peace, calm, and human connection to those at the end of life, we would be honored to welcome you as a hospice volunteer.
