Volunteer Driver – Help Deliver Lifesaving Blood

Put your time behind the wheel to work for your community! Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking dependable volunteer drivers to transport lifesaving blood products from local blood drives and donor centers to our Providence laboratory.

Looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in your community?

Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking Volunteer Drivers to help ensure donated blood gets where it needs to go. Volunteer drivers are an important part of the lifesaving process, transporting blood products from donor centers and community blood drives to the Rhode Island Blood Center laboratory in Providence.

As a Volunteer Driver, you will use your own vehicle to pick up boxed blood products and deliver them safely to our Providence laboratory. Volunteers may occasionally deliver supplies to donor centers or blood drives and will complete required delivery information and a brief report following each pickup.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is dependable, enjoys driving and working independently, and wants to contribute to an important community mission.

Volunteers should:

• Be at least 21 years old
• Have a valid driver's license
• Maintain current vehicle registration and auto insurance
• Successfully complete motor vehicle and criminal background checks
• Be able to lift up to 35 pounds
• Be comfortable following a schedule and using an app-based scheduling/reporting system

Mileage will be reimbursed at a rate of $0.45 per mile.
