Wevise is a US-based nonprofit founded in 2022 on a simple mission: to make careers in technology more attainable and create diverse, inclusive communities where everyone belongs.
Our first program—a mentorship platform launched in June 2023—connects people seeking personal or professional guidance in tech with mentors ready to support them, especially those from disadvantaged communities or with additional barriers.

The Role: Volunteer Head of Marketing
As Volunteer Head of Marketing at Wevise, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role in shaping our marketing vision and impact. Working closely with the CMO, you’ll guide strategies, coordinate campaigns, and manage a growing volunteer marketing team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a startup environment, enjoys collaboration, and is passionate about building something meaningful.
You’ll work on:
- Partnering with the CMO to design and execute marketing strategies aligned with Wevise’s mission and goals.
- Defining and maintaining a consistent brand identity across programs and initiatives.
- Overseeing day-to-day marketing operations, including social media, email, website, and community campaigns.
- Supporting the rollout of key initiatives such as program launches and thought leadership projects.
- Helping maintain and optimize the Wevise website (WordPress) for SEO, performance, and accessibility.
- Recruiting, onboarding, and coordinating a volunteer team of marketers, writers, designers, and social media contributors.
- Fostering a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages creativity and recognizes contributions.
- Assisting with content creation and storytelling, including newsletters, blog posts, and community engagement.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3+ years of marketing management experience, ideally in nonprofit or tech/startup settings.
- Strong initiative, adaptability, and ability to lead without close direction.
- Experience managing or coordinating part-time or volunteer teams.
- Familiarity with tools like WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, and Buffer.
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
- A passion for mentorship, equity, and driving social impact through marketing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven marketing.
- Knowledge of social media strategy, content marketing, and data-driven decision-making.
- Comfort working in a fully remote, distributed team.
