Are you a passionate and strategic thinker with a heart for helping young women? Machiah’s House is seeking a talented and motivated volunteer Program Development Coordinator to help design and implement programs that empower young women who have aged out of foster care. Join us in creating impactful initiatives that equip these young women with the skills and support they need to succeed in adulthood.

About Machiah’s House: Machiah’s House is a nonprofit organization committed to providing safe transitional housing, life skills training, and access to essential community resources for young women who have aged out of the foster care system. Our mission is to support these women as they transition into independence and provide them with the necessary tools to thrive in their personal and professional lives.

    Volunteer Role: Program Development Coordinator

    Job Description:

Program Design & Strategy: Work closely with the leadership team to design programs that align with the unique needs of young women aging out of foster care. Identify key areas such as life skills training, job readiness, financial literacy, emotional well-being, and community integration, and create comprehensive plans to address these needs.

Needs Assessment & Research: Conduct research and gather data to understand the specific challenges faced by young women in transition. Analyze current trends in foster care and identify gaps in existing services. Use this research to inform program development and ensure our initiatives are both relevant and effective.

Curriculum Development: Create structured curriculums for life skills workshops, mentorship programs, and career readiness initiatives. Ensure that these programs are culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and practical for participants to apply to their daily lives.

Partnership Building: Establish partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and community organizations to support program development. Collaborate with these partners to secure resources, guest speakers, training opportunities, and job placements for participants.

Resource Development: Assist in the creation of materials, including participant handbooks, training guides, and online resources, to complement the programs and offer participants ongoing support. Develop creative tools to engage young women in learning and help them retain important life skills.

Program Evaluation & Improvement: Develop measurable outcomes for each program to track its effectiveness and impact on participants. Analyze feedback, collect data, and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Ensure that all programs meet Machiah’s House’s mission and strategic goals.

Mentorship Program Oversight: Design a mentorship program where volunteers and community leaders can provide guidance to young women transitioning out of foster care. Develop a framework for recruiting, training, and matching mentors with participants, ensuring positive relationships and measurable results.

Grant Writing & Fundraising Support: Work with the fundraising team to secure grants and funding for new programs. Assist with grant proposals and fundraising events by providing program descriptions, impact data, and specific needs to enhance donor outreach.

Community Outreach & Advocacy: Raise awareness about the needs of young women who have aged out of foster care. Coordinate community outreach events, presentations, and advocacy campaigns to build support and increase engagement with Machiah’s House programs.

Volunteer Management: Collaborate with volunteer coordinators to recruit and train program volunteers. Ensure volunteers are equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to successfully lead workshops, mentor participants, or contribute to program operations.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
    • Experience in program development, curriculum creation, or nonprofit management
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Strong ability to research, analyze data, and implement effective strategies
    • Creativity in designing innovative programs that engage and empower participants
    • Passion for helping at-risk youth and an understanding of the foster care system
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and working with vulnerable populations
    • Ability to collaborate with community partners and build strong relationships
    • Flexibility to adapt programs based on participant needs and feedback

Impact: As a Program Development Coordinator for Machiah’s House, you will play an integral role in shaping the future of the young women we serve. By developing programs that address their unique challenges, you will empower them to build self-sufficient, successful lives. Your work will directly impact their ability to secure jobs, manage finances, build healthy relationships, and transition into adulthood with confidence.
