Do you enjoy music or singing?
Do you play an instrument, or enjoy sharing recorded music through a phone or music player?
Compassus Hospice welcomes volunteers who are willing to share music in gentle, supportive ways with patients receiving hospice care. This role is about presence and comfort, not performance. Professional training or musical expertise is not required.
Some volunteers sing quietly, some play simple pieces on an instrument, and others share recorded music that is meaningful to the patient. What matters most is being attentive, respectful, and willing to meet patients where they are.
Music can offer companionship and a sense of calm for people who are confined to their homes or living in care facilities. Even a short visit, one or two hours a week or less, can provide meaningful connection.
All volunteers receive training and ongoing support. We help you understand expectations, boundaries, and how to share music in ways that are appropriate for each patient’s situation.
