Bring Comfort to Patients and Families - Become a Hospice Volunteer Today!
Hospice helps families at no cost (funded by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance) when they have terminal illnesses.
As a hospice volunteer, you can provide direct service to our community's most vulnerable members and families coping with significant change or crises. Hospice volunteers can provide respite care, such as staying with the patient so the caregivers can take care of themselves, run errands, or take a nap. They can provide companionship for patients and caregivers, do puzzles or crafts, assist with daily living like preparing meals or light housework, care for pets, or other supportive tasks. Volunteers can specialize in what they want to do according to their talents; for example, some volunteers specialize in bereavement support after the death of a loved one.
For volunteers who want to help families with end-of-life care but do not feel ready to volunteer in the homes or directly with family members, there are opportunities to help with hospice administration or phone calls to patients and family members.
Volunteering in hospice is one of the most rewarding ways to give back to our community and support and dignify human life.
