    Grant Writer - Join Our Team to Learn, Collaborate, and Achieve!

    If you have good technical or narrative writing skills and want to put your time towards building a foundation for a community to grow, then we’d love you to join our volunteer team! You’ll collaborate with the Grants Committee to turn data and stories into compelling proposals honing your writing skills and making friends along the way.

    How you’ll contribute:

    • Draft and edit letters of inquiry and full proposals
    • Gather metrics, quotes, and attachments with the committee
    • Tailor submissions to guidelines, budgets, and calendars
    • Offer and receive peer edits to strengthen voice and clarity

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Grant Writer plays a key role in securing funding by crafting compelling, accurate, and tailored grant proposals. This ongoing role supports the Grant Committee by translating organizational needs into persuasive narratives that align with funder priorities.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Writes and edits grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents in collaboration with other assigned team members.
    • Collaborates with the Grant Committee Chair and other volunteers to gather necessary data and documentation.
    • Tailors proposals to meet specific funder guidelines and priorities.
    • Ensures clarity, consistency, and alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.
    • Supports other grant writers by providing edits, comments, and suggestions to improve content for the best outcomes.

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

    • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit funding and grant writing best practices.
    • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, persuasive content.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

    SUPPORT

    • Access to software, tools, and process orientation
    • Assistance from staff and other committee members to collect needed information
    • Receives guidance and resources from committee members and staff.
