Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative UX/UI Designer to design intuitive, engaging, and accessible user experiences for our game project. This volunteer role focuses on crafting seamless user journeys—from onboarding flows and menus to in-game HUDs and accessibility features—ensuring that players of all backgrounds can easily navigate and enjoy the experience.
You will collaborate closely with game designers, developers, and artists to translate gameplay systems into clear, user-centered interfaces that enhance usability and player engagement.
Commitment: 15–20 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for game menus, HUDs, and system interfaces.
- Create high-fidelity UI mockups aligned with the game’s artistic direction and mission.
- Ensure accessibility best practices (color contrast, readable typography, scalable UI, inclusive interaction design).
- Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of UI assets within Unity.
- Conduct usability reviews and iterate designs based on feedback and testing.
- Develop and maintain UI style guides, component systems, and design documentation.
- Optimize user journeys to minimize friction and maximize clarity and engagement.
- Support player-facing systems such as settings, onboarding experiences, and accessibility menus through thoughtful UX design.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in UX/UI design (portfolio required; game UI experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and interaction design.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
- Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and scalable UI systems.
- Strong visual design skills (typography, hierarchy, layout, color theory).
- Comfortable collaborating within a remote, volunteer-based team.
- Passion for mission-driven, educational, or socially impactful projects is highly valued.
