Become an Onondaga County Senior Companion!

The Senior Companion Program is a product of AmeriCorps Seniors, presented by InterFaith Works of Central NY, and offers services in Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego Counties. Our volunteer Companions (volunteers age 55 and over) provide in-home company and assistance to other older adults (60 years and over) with activities that have become challenging with age; empowering their peers and elders to be independent longer and age with dignity. Senior Companions are not home health aides, and do not provide medical or personal hygiene services.

Senior Companions receive orientation and training, travel reimbursement, and create life-long bonds with their clients and other like-minded volunteers. They also receive a small tax-free hourly stipend if they meet certain income requirements.
