Weekend Food Rescue Driver (DC Area)

🛠️ Role Summary

We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic Driver to be the backbone of our logistics! This role involves using our company van to pick up large quantities of donated food (often fresh produce, bakery items, or frozen goods) from partner grocery stores and farmers' markets across the DC area and delivering them directly to our central storage or distribution site.

Key Responsibilities

• Scheduled Pickups: Arrive punctually at assigned partner locations in DC Metro area
• Safe Loading: Verify the food inventory and safely load food boxes and containers into our van
• Efficient Transport: Deliver collected food immediately to the designated distribution or storage center, following all traffic laws
• Documentation: Track mileage and donation quantities for organizational records (reimbursement for gas/mileage may be available)

Qualifications

• Documentation: Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and current auto insurance required
• Strength: Ability to safely lift and maneuver boxes weighing 30–50 lbs (often with assistance available at pickup/drop-off)
• Time Management: Highly dependable and able to strictly adhere to the tight weekend pickup schedules
• Available on weekends:
  • Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET
  • Sundays: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM ET
