Want to learn how to enhance the environmental value of your own garden, patio or yard to welcome more birds, bees and other pollinators? Join Naturalist and Board Member Steve Ricker to work in and around Bedford Audubon's Leon Levy Native Habitat Garden and learn how the elements of a good native habitat garden work together to provide essential resources for native birds and other wildlife, how to identify and remove invasive plants, and why this is so vital to a healthy ecosystem. In some sessions, we will be replanting native plants. Tools and gloves are provided, but you can bring your own. Loppers and hand pruners are the most used types. Plants with thorns and poison ivy will be present.
Several work projects are underway including a new Accessibility Trail and Inclusive Teaching Garden, a project to enhance the quality of the rare shrub habitat on the sanctuary for our bird and pollinator friends, and an invasive removal project on our historic farmhouse stone wall, which features a unique carriage stone.
This is a great and fun way to get some exercise, fresh air, and contribute to the communities' wild animals and plants.

Directions from I-684: Take Exit 6: NY-35 - Cross River/Katonah. Head EAST on NY-35 (if coming from points south of Katonah, make a right at the end of the ramp, if coming from points north, make a left onto NY-35 heading east). Make a left onto Route 22 North towards Goldens Bridge. Make a right onto Todd Road (the 4th right). Bylane Farm is located about a half mile down the road, where the road surface changes from dirt to pavement. Look for a small historic white sign on the left side of the road. There is no parking allowed on Todd Road. You may park in Bylane's driveway (to the right of our building, as you look at it from the street). Or, if these spots are taken, you may park across the street - there are several spots on the right as you go up the gravel drive, or you can continue up the hill to a larger parking area on the right.
