When there are major disasters, the American Red Cross works with local and event based disaster volunteers. This position supports that work through recruiting, intake, placement, and scheduling of these volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement recruitment strategies and tactics to recruit disaster event based non-disaster (D-EBVs), local community volunteers LCVs and new organizations to fill open shifts and meet Disaster relief operation (DRO) needs
- Place volunteers on the operation
- Fill shifts on disaster relief operation (DRO) shift tool by scheduling disaster event based volunteers (D-EBVs) and non-disaster local community volunteers (LCVs)
- Support volunteer engagement at work sites by managing the distribution and return of rosters
- Manage daily event based volunteer schedule
- Support the setup and operation of a Volunteer Intake Center
- Support volunteer screening and/or scheduling in a Volunteer Intake Center
Time Commitment:
Work determined by the scale of the relief operation; a minimum requirement of 8-12 hours per day during the disaster relief operation for multiple, consecutive days. Beyond Regional responses: 12 hour days for extended periods depending on distance. Time and length of commitment will vary by operation
