About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, literacy development, social-emotional learning, and creative expression, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.
MAP Connect is MAP’s virtual mentorship and learning initiative, providing accessible online tutoring, enrichment, and mentorship support for youth experiencing homelessness. Through one-on-one connections and educational engagement, MAP Connect helps students develop confidence, academic skills, and a sense of community.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated MAP Connect Coordinator to oversee daily operations, mentor engagement, and student support for the MAP Connect program. The Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact between mentors, youth participants, and leadership — ensuring smooth communication, timely follow-up, and consistent program quality.
This role is ideal for an organized and compassionate individual passionate about youth empowerment, virtual learning, and equitable education access.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate scheduling, mentor-student pairings, and weekly session tracking for MAP Connect.
- Communicate regularly with mentors, families, and program staff to ensure engagement and progress.
- Facilitate virtual orientation sessions and mentor check-ins.
- Monitor student attendance, session reports, and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the Director of MAP Connect to support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and training.
- Maintain accurate program documentation and reports using MAP’s internal systems.
- Ensure program goals align with MAP’s mission and SEL framework.
- Check and respond to emails daily, responding within 48 hours.
- Take responsibility for performance improvement by reviewing feedback, tracking progress, and proposing process enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Education, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience coordinating volunteers, youth programs, or virtual education initiatives preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Zoom, and digital communication tools.
- Commitment to MAP’s values of equity, inclusion, and mentorship.
Commitment
- Volunteer role requiring approximately 5–10 hours per week.
- Minimum 6-month commitment preferred.
- Remote-first with optional in-person collaboration in New York City.
