Clothing Donation Sorting – Support Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

The IDSGT Foundation works with the Long Beach Multi-Service Center and is seeking dedicated volunteers and volunteer groups to assist with sorting and organizing clothing donations that directly benefit individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

We receive a high volume of donated clothing, including men’s, women’s, and children’s items. Volunteers play a critical role in helping us process these donations so they can reach those in need quickly. Children’s and baby clothing is also distributed to one of our partner family shelters.

This is a hands-on opportunity that makes an immediate and tangible impact.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Sort clothing by size, type, and condition
• Organize items for distribution
• Assist with light lifting and moving donation bags or boxes
• Work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the weather, space, and volume

Physical Requirements:

• Standing/sitting for extended periods
• Bending and reaching
• Light to moderate lifting

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older
• Completion of a volunteer waiver
• Comfortable working in an active service environment

If weekdays do not work for your group, limited Saturday morning opportunities may be arranged, subject to availability.
