Deliver Meals to Older Adults in Stillwater!

Volunteering with Optage Meals is a great opportunity to directly help older individuals in your community. Our volunteers deliver much more than a meal—they bring warm smiles and much-needed safety checks to seniors and adults with disabilities. As a driver, you will make valued connections with your neighbors and help them remain independent in their own homes. Volunteers help us grow our mission by delivering meals to clients, occasionally putting away meals in clients' freezers, and bringing cheer to everyone they interact with. Volunteers are invited to bring their spouse, children, or grandchildren in the car with them!

Essential Duties:

• Deliver meals to the homes of clients
• Follow delivery route instructions
• Chat with clients and put their meals in their freezer if they need additional help
• Report back to the primary Optage driver or the volunteer coordinator if you have concerns about clients
• Maintain a respectful relationship with clients, staff, and volunteers
• Maintain confidentiality of client records and personal information

Minimum Qualifications:

• Outgoing, caring, and cheerful
• Passionate about working with diverse groups of people and people with disabilities
• Access to your own vehicle
• Valid driver's license
• Valid proof of insurance
• Ability to pass a background check
• Reliable in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 15-30lb delivery bags into your vehicle and up occasional flights of stairs

Location and Time Commitment:

• Each route starts on Tuesday mornings and takes between 1-2 hours to complete. You will meet an Optage Meals driver at Oakridge Church in Stillwater to pick up the meals and will return to Oakridge Church to drop off your cooler bags. If you are not located in the Stillwater area, we may have an open route in a different area of the Twin Cities that you could be a good fit for. We are looking to fill a volunteer route that has already been established, but we may be able to create a new route in Stillwater to fit your specific needs.

Work Environment:

• This position is completed using your personal vehicle, and you will be delivering meals to various clients around Stillwater. We are specifically interested in individuals who are comfortable driving in many different types of weather.

Training and/or Support Provided:

• General volunteer orientation
• Annual volunteer training
• Specific ride-along training if desired
