Gentiva Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable individuals to join our volunteer team as Tuck-In Call Volunteers. This unique role allows you to provide comfort, reassurance, and support to hospice patients and their families.

What is a Tuck-In Call?

Tuck-In Calls are friendly weekly check-in phone calls made to patients or caregivers before the weekend. These calls help ensure that patients have everything they need for comfort and care until the next scheduled visit.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Make scheduled phone calls to assigned patients and/or caregivers
• Follow a simple script to:
  • Confirm medication and supply needs
  • Check on patient comfort and well-being
  • Identify any concerns or changes in condition
• Accurately document call outcomes and communicate needs to hospice staff
• Provide a compassionate, listening presence during each interaction

Qualifications

• Strong communication and listening skills
• Empathy, patience, and reliability
• Comfort speaking on the phone with individuals facing serious illness
• Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance training provided)
• Basic computer or documentation skills
