Cantonese/Mandarin Speaking Volunteers for Food Pantry

Hello!

Thank you for inquiring about this critical volunteer opportunity. We have several times throughout the year and month where language interpretation is helpful.

You may sign up directly through our eventbrite for the monthly food pantry for the dates you are available but also please email here so we can be introduced. If you are available for ongoing support either at designated times or on call, kindly let us know as well.

Our monthly Food Distribution is held each fourth Saturday of the month (8-11 am) and we prepare on the Friday (12:30-1:30) prior to the distribution. During this time, Cantonese is the dominant language spoken by guests but there several other languages spoken.

In our Lake Lunches program, we prepare 365 lunches and hygiene kits. We have volunteer openings every Monday (2-4 pm), Tuesday (11:30-1:15 & 1:15-2:30), and Thursday (11:30 am -1:15 pm). During our curbside lunch giveaway at 12:30, we also meet people who speak Cantonese.
