    Descripción

    Apprenticeship (1 year) - 10 hrs/week. 480 hours. At the end of this apprenticeship, you'll have learned the nuance of researching grants databases, finding grant opportunities for specific projects, writing letters of intent, tailoring grant asks to match funder needs and write a complete grants application. You'll acquire critical skills be ready for a career in grant-writing, technical writing, or for your own academic writing.

    TWELVE MONTHS POSITION: Position once every year. Apprentice needs to commit a minimum of 10 hours each week. Minimum 12 months commitment.

    In-Person position. Administered from BERKELEY, CA, USA only. Person must be based in North America (USA).

    Job Description

    o Develop or sharpen your grant-writing skills. All levels are welcome.

    o Develop creative narrative around the many aspects of story collecting, designed to inform the public in various capacities.

    o Apply narratives to various grants applications

    o Grant writing strategy

    o Communicate with funding agencies and foundations

    Job Requirements

    o Strong written and verbal communication skills

    o Excellent writing portfolio

    o Highly organized individual

    o Strong passion for preserving history and supporting our mission

    Internship Expectations

    Support our grants writing effort by managing large grant writing processes for agencies big and small, such as the National Endowment for the Humanities. Interns are expected to develop ownership of their projects and encouraged to develop creative solutions. Independent thinking is strongly encouraged. Intern must have a strong passion for and dedication to our mission and goals. Interns will receive relevant training, fieldwork experience as well as guaranteed references for successfully completing their internship term. This internship is unpaid but interns may apply for credit or funding through their college or university. Successful interns, at the end of their tenure, may be considered for any paid positions that are available.

    Interns work at the downtown office in Berkeley, California, USA. In-person positions assume the applicant has US citizenship, permanent residency status, or a valid US VISA, and can self-sustain their stay throughout the internship or apprenticeship period, including food, lodging, and transport.
