Volunteers Needed for Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger

Project Bread, the leading statewide food security organization in Massachusetts, is seeking volunteers to support the 58th annual Walk for Hunger, its signature community fundraiser. Volunteers play a vital role in bringing this large-scale event to life by assisting with registration, check-in, and onsite logistics throughout the day.

Set for Sunday, May 3 on the Boston Common, the one-day celebration will bring together thousands of walkers for a family-friendly, 3-mile loop featuring food, entertainment, and activities for all ages. Each year, the Walk for Hunger unites community members to turn compassion into action – supporting and funding Project Bread’s proven, statewide approach to advancing food security and ensuring access to nutritious food for children and families across Massachusetts.

Volunteers will be assigned to stations around the scenic 3-mile route and supported by a Project Bread staff member as their primary contact. An advance training session will be provided to ensure all volunteers feel prepared and supported.

Volunteers ages 10–16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children ages 10 and under are not permitted to volunteer. Groups are welcome; however, each volunteer must register individually and note their volunteer group during registration.

    Volunteer responsibilities may include:

    • Check-in and registration of Walk participants
    • Distributing food, water, informational materials, and event swag
    • Assisting at photo and video activation areas
    • Cheering on walkers along the route
    • And more!

Volunteers should plan to be onsite from 6:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. Breakfast, water, and snacks will be provided, and each volunteer will receive a 30-minute break during their shift.
