CornerStone is looking for positive adult role models who want to build a connection with teens and tweens in the Frazee area. No experience needed, just a willingness to listen and interact with youth. As a Youth Mentor you will hang out with school-aged children after school hours in our youth center space assisting staff with activities and general supervision. While we are not a child care center and youth are free to come and go as they please, we guide participants in making good decisions about their safety and wellbeing.
Youth love to engage in art projects, gaming, billiards, cooking, and more. They are always looking to learn something new so volunteers are encouraged to share their own talent or hobby as well. CornerStone provides a daily snack to hungry youth after school and weekly activities such as bingo, sewing, volunteering, or field trips. Volunteers will help with various tasks such as snack prep, special activities, clean-up, or activities depending on your strengths and desires. Our major goal with youth programming is to build trust and connection helping youth feel positive caring relationships in our community.
Volunteers must be able to communicate availability so we can plan staffing, must be able to provide a welcoming environment for youth in all walks of life, and may be asked to complete a criminal background check. Preference is given to adults 18 and older, but mature teens are encouraged to apply.
From Highway 87 (Lake Street) heading NorthEast, take a left before Frazee High School on Birch Avenue. CornerStone is in the lower level of a prior church building on the right.
Just answer a couple of quick questions so we can contact you to learn your availability. You can include a cover letter or resume, but this is not required. Selection for this opportunity will be weighed more heavily on an in person visit and tour of the facility.
