Food Leads is seeking a dedicated and experienced Volunteer Head Gardener to help lead volunteers in caring for our community garden plots! This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a solid foundation in gardening, and is excited to share their knowledge with others.
The Volunteer Head Gardener will lead weekly volunteer sessions on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 PM, guiding groups through essential garden tasks such as planting, harvesting, weeding, and general maintenance. Food Leads staff will handle behind-the-scenes planning - such as crop plans and volunteer coordination - and provide weekly guidance on priorities. However, this role requires someone who feels confident working independently and can keep volunteers organized, engaged, and productive, even when staff are not onsite.
This is a great opportunity to build leadership experience, connect with others, and play a meaningful role in growing fresh, nourishing food for the community! Produce from the garden is used in Food Leads’ free meal kits for local families, and any excess harvest is shared with volunteers.
