    Descripción

    Description:

    This opportunity is for a volunteer to provide bi‑weekly computer literacy support for residents at Beth Asher who have expressed interest in improving their digital skills. The volunteer will assist residents with basic computer use, internet navigation, email, Zoom, and other common programs using the community room computers and printer. Sessions are flexible and tailored to resident needs.

    Reports to:

    Volunteer Coordinator and the site’s Service Coordinator

    Goal of Position:

    To help senior and family residents gain confidence and fluency in navigating computers and digital tools needed for everyday tasks and communication.

    Specific Tasks:

    1. Assess residents’ technology needs and adapt support to their interests.
    2. Provide drop‑in, one‑on‑one assistance with computers and digital tools.
    3. Help residents troubleshoot issues and build problem‑solving skills.
    4. Manage multiple requests on a first‑come, first‑served basis when needed.
    5. Offer structured lessons or small workshops when appropriate, based on resident needs.
    6. Prepare 1–2 hour lessons on topics such as internet browsing, email, Zoom, Microsoft Word, or online forms.
    7. Remain patient and supportive of residents with limited computer experience or English proficiency.
    8. Monitor attendance and ensure all participants sign the sign‑in sheet.
    9. Coordinate with the Service Coordinator regarding equipment or support needs.

    Qualifications:

    Physical/Age Requirements:

    • Able to stand and walk around the room for up to one hour during sessions.

    Skills/Education/Experience:

    • General knowledge of computers and digital tools.
    • Ability to explain technology concepts clearly and accessibly.
    • Friendly, patient, open‑minded, and solution‑oriented.
    • Prior experience teaching, training, or assisting others with computer literacy is preferred.
