    West Metro Community Coordinator (Volunteer)

    Position Summary

MNeurodivergent is seeking a West Metro Community Coordinator to help lead community-building efforts in the western Twin Cities metro area. This volunteer leadership role supports inclusive, affirming spaces for neurodivergent adults through consistent local events, volunteer mentorship, and strong community communication.

The West Metro Community Coordinator works closely with the Twin Cities Coordinator and helps ensure West Metro volunteers are supported, connected, and empowered to host inclusive events. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organizing people, supporting volunteers, and building radically welcoming neurodivergent spaces.

    Reporting Structure

This role reports to the Twin Cities Coordinator. The West Metro Community Coordinator is part of the Twin Cities Metro community leadership network, alongside North and South Metro Coordinators.

    Key Responsibilities

    Volunteer Leadership & Local Coordination

    • Recruit, engage, and support volunteers for West Metro roles (event support, outreach support, event hosts/co-hosts, etc.)
    • Conduct thorough and comprehensive interviews with potential volunteers and submit interview records to the Volunteer Committee
    • Mentor and support onboarded volunteers to foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment
    • Host regular local volunteer check-ins/meetings to share updates, delegate responsibilities, and support collaboration
    • Communicate local needs, successes, and capacity concerns to the Twin Cities Coordinator

    Events & Community Connection

    • Coordinate and support inclusive in-person events such as game nights, art gatherings, coffee meetups, and park days
    • Help ensure events remain aligned with MNeurodivergent’s accessibility, inclusion, and safety standards
    • Support consistent event scheduling and community visibility in the West Metro region

    Organizational Engagement

    • Attend monthly statewide Events Committee meetings when possible (or provide updates through the Twin Cities Coordinator, as determined by the program structure)
    • Support region-wide collaboration with other metro leaders to share best practices and strengthen the volunteer network

Important Note: What This Role Does NOT Include

To keep roles clear and sustainable, the West Metro Community Coordinator does not coordinate tabling logistics, vendor booths, or public outreach staffing. Those responsibilities are managed separately within MNeurodivergent’s tabling/exhibiting systems and departments.

    Qualifications

    • Passion for creating accessible, affirming, and inclusive spaces for neurodivergent individuals
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Comfortable mentoring and supporting volunteers
    • Reliability, follow-through, and alignment with MNeurodivergent’s values
    • Experience with event planning, volunteer leadership, or community-building is preferred but not required
    • Must be based in or consistently present in the West Metro Twin Cities area

    Time Commitment

    • Estimated 4–8 hours per week, depending on seasonal activity and local event schedule
    • Includes volunteer interviews, event coordination support, local volunteer communication, and leadership meetings/check-ins
    • Some evening or weekend availability required

    Benefits of Volunteering

    • Help reduce isolation and build empowering, peer-led connection for neurodivergent adults in the West Metro
    • Gain leadership experience in volunteer mentorship, coordination, and community-building
    • Receive support from the Twin Cities Coordinator, Community Outreach Committee, and statewide network
    • Create lasting local impact through radically inclusive and affirming community-building
