We would love to have you volunteer with us to drive seniors to their doctor appointments or to run errands. We hope that you'll chat with them and form a connection..
Its like taking your grandma or grandpa out to where they need to go.
Drivers make it possible for seniors to live independently when they no longer are in a position to drive themselves to places such as to medical and dental appointments, grocery shopping, church, banks, nail and hair salons, social activities .
Members request rides several days in advance via phone calls to Village Office, stating starting time, location, and ending time. They may request one-way or round trip rides. Volunteers check the online database and sign up to provide either a one-way or a round-trip ride, as their schedule permits.
Members may use a cane or walker to assist them getting to and from the driver's car. Driver must be able and willing to collapse walkers and place them temporarily in their car. Only drivers with Village training may assist members in wheelchairs. It's very rewarding and fun!
Do you have a car and a few hours to spare each week? We need compassionate volunteer drivers to help transport seniors and individuals with disabilities in San Mateo County. Your time and effort can make a huge difference in someone’s life!
As a volunteer driver, you'll assist community members by providing rides to medical appointments, grocery stores, social events, and other essential destinations. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to your local community, reduce isolation, and help ensure that older adults and individuals with disabilities maintain their independence and quality of life.
