Hospice volunteering is at the heart of compassionate service. It is in acts of selflessness and

kindness that we make the most impact in the lives of others.

As a volunteer, you have the amazing opportunity to make a profound difference in the quality

of life of individuals, and their families, facing terminal illnesses and entering the next phase of

their journey.

Opportunities for Hospice Volunteers include:

Support for Patients and Respite/Support for Family Members

• Spend time listening to life stories, reading a book, writing letters, playing music/musical instrument, light housekeeping or outdoor chores, sit in vigil, companion to activities
• Licensed services like massage or alternative therapies
• Assist with shopping or allow family caregivers opportunity to attend to necessary errands or have time to rest

Participate in the Bereavement Support Programs

• Assist the bereavement staff/support group facilitator, serve refreshments, prepare mailings to families

Administrative & Fundraising work

• Assist in day-to-day office duties like photocopying, answering phones, assist with making phone calls, assist in organizing celebrations and events
