About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, literacy development, social-emotional learning, creative expression, leadership programs, and community partnerships, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.
Our programs span in-person and virtual environments, including MAP Roots, MAP Connect, youth leadership initiatives, storytelling and media projects, and enrichment programs designed in partnership with schools, shelters, and community organizations.
Why This Role Matters
The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is responsible for ensuring that MAP’s programs are youth-centered, trauma-informed, equitable, and operationally sound. This role exists to protect program quality as MAP grows—making sure expansion never comes at the expense of care, consistency, or integrity.
The CPO serves as a strategic leader, steward of program values, and partner to executive leadership, staff, volunteers, schools, and community stakeholders.
