Help us nourish our residents with a home-style Sunday dinner. Volunteers prepare and deliver balanced meals for our shelters on Sundays during the afternoon delivery window. This is a great option for families, faith groups, service clubs, or friends who want to make a meaningful impact together.
What you provide
- A balanced dinner for your chosen site: protein, starch or grain, and vegetables or salad
- Optional dessert or fruit
- An ingredient list for allergy tracking
How many to cook for
- Balay Ko on Barca - about 30 residents
- Longbranch Cabins - about 22 residents
- Both sites - about 52 residents total
Food safety basics
- Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold during transport
- Use disposable, lidded trays when possible and label items with dish name, date, and ingredients
- No home-canned items

¿Cómo llegar?
Delivery Window: Sundays, typically between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. We will confirm your exact drop-off time once you are scheduled.
Location: Either Balay Ko on Barca or Longbranch Cabins. We will confirm the address and gate instructions with you after sign-up.
Parking: Free on-site or street parking is available at each location.
Arrival: Upon arrival, please check in with on-duty staff. Look for Alistair Chong, Events & Volunteer Coordinator. If Alistair is not on site, staff will receive your meal and note your delivery.
What to Bring: Your prepared dishes in labeled containers, serving utensils if needed, and a printed ingredient list.

Sign Up and Scheduling
- Notice Required: Please contact us at least one week in advance so we can plan the calendar and coordinate drop-off details.
- How to Sign Up / Questions: Contact Alistair Chong at alistair.chong@5chc.org or (805) 550-8701.
- Once scheduled, we will add you to the meal calendar and send a reminder the day before.
- Groups are welcome. If you are interested in hosting a BBQ at a shelter on a Sunday, let Alistair know and we will coordinate the details.
