    Pet Wellness Board Member

    About the Role

    This is a volunteer remote role for a Pet Harmony Board Member at The Healing Circle Foundation. The Pet Harmony Board Member will support the vision, strategic growth, and community impact of the foundation’s pet wellness and human-animal connection efforts. This role focuses on helping guide programming, strengthen partnerships, support outreach and fundraising, and promote services that reflect the foundation’s holistic and community-centered mission. Board members in nonprofits typically provide mission-focused guidance, oversight, advocacy, and support for sustainability rather than day-to-day staff management.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic guidance for the development and growth of the Pet Harmony Initiative.
    • Support the foundation’s mission by helping shape goals, priorities, and program direction related to pet wellness, healing, and community
    • Participate in board meetings, planning discussions, and collaborative decision-making to help advance the initiative responsibly and
    • Serve as an ambassador for the organization by promoting the Pet Harmony Initiative through personal, professional, and community networks.
    • Assist with building and maintaining relationships with veterinarians, animal wellness practitioners, pet service providers, rescue groups, and aligned community partners.
    • Support fundraising efforts by identifying sponsorship opportunities, potential donors, and grant or partnership
    • Offer insight on culturally responsive, inclusive, and ethical programming that serves diverse communities and supports both pets and the people who care for them.

    Help review program ideas, outreach strategies, and community engagement efforts to strengthen long-term impact.

    Qualifications

    Communication Skills

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with community members, partners, donors, and fellow board members.

    Experience in Leadership or Service

    • Previous experience in nonprofit service, community leadership, animal wellness, outreach, program development, or board participation is highly desirable. Nonprofit board members are commonly expected to contribute strategic guidance, advocacy, and fundraising support.councilofnonprofits+1

    Passion for Pet Wellness and Healing

    • A genuine interest in animal well-being, holistic healing, community wellness, and the foundation’s mission.

    Strategic Thinking

    • Ability to think long term, contribute ideas, and help guide program direction in alignment with organizational values. Board members are generally expected to focus on stewardship, sustainability, and mission advancement.

    Relationship Building

    • Ability to foster positive relationships with community stakeholders, wellness practitioners, animal-focused organizations, and supporters.

    Self-Motivated

    • Ability to work independently, follow through on commitments, and contribute meaningfully in a volunteer leadership role.

    Cultural Awareness

    • Understanding and sensitivity to diverse populations, including the ability to support inclusive programming across cultural and social differences.

    Required Skills

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to collaborate with leadership and contribute to group decision-making
    • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
    • Ability to serve as a community ambassador for the initiative.
    • Passion for animal wellness, healing-centered work, and the organization’s mission
    • Willingness to participate in meetings, planning, outreach, and fundraising support.

    Preferred Skills

    Fundraising Support

    Comfort helping identify donors, sponsors, in-kind partners, or grant opportunities. Fundraising and resource development are widely recognized parts of nonprofit board service.

    Community Partnerships

    Experience building relationships with community organizations, pet care providers, wellness professionals, or advocacy groups.

    Program Development

    Ability to offer ideas and feedback on workshops, events, educational activities, or outreach campaigns related to pet harmony and healing.

    Public Speaking

    Confidence in speaking about the foundation’s work in community spaces, meetings, or small group settings.

    Networking Abilities

    Experience leveraging community and professional networks to expand awareness, support, and engagement.

    Animal Wellness Background

    Experience in pet care, animal advocacy, rescue, veterinary support, animal-assisted healing, or related fields is a plus.

    Bilingual (Preferred but Not Required)

    Fluency in a second language in addition to English (Mandarin) is a plus, especially in languages spoken in the communities being served.

    Pay range and compensation package

    Volunteer work with leadership development, mission-driven service, community impact, and opportunities to support a growing foundation. Most charitable nonprofit board members serve as volunteers without compensation. However we offer Volunteer work with Benefits and Opportunity for Contracted work Commission
