Summary of Position
Serve as a representative of Jeffco Parks & Open Space (JCPOS) by being a visible and approachable presence in the parks and at trailheads. Share stewardship messages with park visitors and assist with inquiries. Park Hosts also represent JCPOS at community events such as parades, fairs, and festivals.
Duties
Provide information, education, and friendly greetings to enhance the safety, knowledge, and experience of park visitors.
Make educational contacts in the parks regarding stewardship and regulations.
Report volunteer service hours regularly through the online reporting system, Offero.
Requirements
Strong interpersonal skills
Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on varied terrain
Commit to contributing 3-4 hours per month including Park Host trainings and meetings
Purchase and wear JCPOS Volunteer Park Host uniform shirt while on duty and to Park Host trainings and meetings
Abide by JCPOS Park Regulations and established volunteer policies and procedures outlined in the JCPOS Volunteer Handbook

Next Steps

- Attend an Interview
- All prospective volunteers will be interviewed. Once you submit your application, you will be contacted to arrange for your interview.
- Attend New Volunteer Orientation
- All new volunteers are required to attend New Volunteer Orientation at JCPOS Headquarters to become familiar with the entire JCPOS system prior to specific program training. You must pre-register for orientation on Offero. Registration links are provided upon receipt of your application.
- Attend Program Specific Training
- JCPOS staff and Park Host Mentors will provide classroom training at JCPOS Headquarters as well as mentored site visits to JCPOS parks. All new Park Hosts must complete at least two mentored site visits prior to solo hosting. Training date: April 11 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
