As we expand our programs, partnerships, volunteer network, and organizational operations, we recognize that investing in our people is essential to our success. We are seeking a motivated and organized Learning & Development Coordinator to help build the training, onboarding, and professional development resources that will support our growing team.

    Position Overview

The Volunteer Learning & Development Coordinator will help develop, organize, implement, and improve THA’s staff and volunteer training initiatives. This individual will play an important role in strengthening our onboarding process, coordinating learning opportunities, maintaining training resources, and helping team members understand their responsibilities, policies, procedures, and program expectations.

This is an opportunity for someone passionate about adult learning, employee development, organizational effectiveness, and nonprofit capacity building to make a meaningful impact while helping shape the foundation of a growing organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Training & Professional Development

    • Assist in developing and coordinating training programs for staff, volunteers, program coordinators, and organizational leaders.
    • Identify training needs and recommend learning opportunities that support individual and organizational growth.
    • Help create training materials, presentations, guides, job aids, and educational resources.
    • Support ongoing professional development and encourage a culture of continuous learning.

    Onboarding & Orientation

    • Help coordinate onboarding and orientation for new staff and volunteers.
    • Organize role-specific training plans and onboarding checklists.
    • Ensure team members receive appropriate information about organizational policies, procedures, expectations, systems, and program responsibilities.
    • Assist with tracking onboarding progress and required training completion.

    Learning Management & Training Records

    • Help organize and maintain THA’s online training resources and learning management systems.
    • Maintain accurate training records, completion reports, and professional development documentation.
    • Monitor training deadlines and follow up with team members regarding outstanding requirements.
    • Help identify opportunities to streamline training administration through technology and automation.

    Policy, Compliance & Organizational Readiness

    • Support the development of training related to organizational policies, confidentiality, professional conduct, safeguarding, child protection, and other applicable requirements.
    • Collaborate with leadership and relevant program personnel to ensure training reflects approved policies and role-specific responsibilities.
    • Help communicate updates when policies, procedures, systems, or program expectations change.
    • Support the organization’s efforts to build consistent, accountable, and well-prepared teams.

    Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

    • Gather feedback from training participants and organizational leaders.
    • Help evaluate training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Recommend practical ways to improve onboarding, engagement, knowledge retention, and staff readiness.
    • Develop simple reports and metrics to help leadership monitor training progress and organizational development.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
    • Interest in learning and development, training, education, human resources, or organizational development.
    • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with a remote team.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
    • Willingness to learn THA’s systems, policies, programs, and operational needs.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in training, instructional design, human resources, education, employee development, or nonprofit operations.
    • Experience creating training materials, onboarding resources, or professional development programs.
    • Familiarity with learning management systems, online collaboration tools, and digital documentation.
    • Experience evaluating training effectiveness, maintaining records, or improving organizational processes.
    • Relevant education, professional certifications, or equivalent practical experience.

We welcome applicants with relevant professional experience, transferable skills, or a strong interest in helping build an effective learning and development function.

    Success Measures

The successful volunteer will help THA:

    • Strengthen and standardize onboarding for new team members.
    • Improve access to training materials and role-specific learning resources.
    • Increase visibility into training completion and outstanding requirements.
    • Develop a more organized and consistent professional development process.
    • Support staff and volunteers in understanding their responsibilities and organizational expectations.
    • Establish practical methods for evaluating and improving training effectiveness.

    Volunteer Commitment

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. The time commitment and schedule will be discussed with the selected candidate based on organizational needs, availability, and mutually agreed priorities.

The role requires reliable communication, follow-through on agreed responsibilities, participation in relevant meetings, and respect for THA’s confidentiality and organizational policies.
