Role Overview
REMNANT, Inc. is seeking committed volunteer Board Members to serve on its governing body. Board
Members are responsible for providing strategic direction, fiduciary oversight, and policy governance while
supporting the organization's mission, sustainability, and long-term impact.
This is a non-compensated, volunteer role appropriate for senior leaders who value service, governance
excellence, and nonprofit impact.
Core Board Responsibilities
All Board Members are expected to:
- Understand and support REMNANT's mission, programs, policies, and strategic priorities
- Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in board meetings
- Contribute to the development and approval of strategic plans and organizational policies
- Monitor organizational performance, risks, and compliance
- Approve budgets, audits, and major organizational decisions
- Ensure fiduciary responsibilities and legal obligations are met
- Participate in evaluations of organizational effectiveness and executive leadership
- Maintain confidentiality regarding internal organizational matters
- Stay informed on issues and trends affecting the nonprofit sector and REMNANT's work
General Qualifications
- Proven executive or senior leadership experience
- Prior board or nonprofit governance experience preferred
- Strong judgment, diplomacy, and collaborative leadership skills
- Commitment to ethical leadership and mission stewardship
- Ability to commit sufficient time and attention to board service

Finance & Financial Oversight
Ideal candidates bring experience in:
- Finance, accounting, investment management, or financial strategy
- Budgeting, audits, and financial controls
- Nonprofit financial oversight and fiduciary governance
- Supporting long-term financial sustainability and risk management
May serve on or support the Finance or Audit Committee.
Marketing, Communications & Brand
Ideal candidates bring experience in:
- Marketing, communications, or brand strategy
- Public messaging, digital engagement, or community outreach
- Aligning brand and storytelling with mission and growth goals
- Supporting visibility and stakeholder engagement
May serve on or support the Marketing or Communications Committee.
Nonprofit Governance & Board Leadership
Ideal candidates bring experience in:
- Serving on nonprofit governing boards, advisory boards, or committees
- Understanding fiduciary duties, policy governance, and board–management boundaries
- Supporting executive leadership through oversight, accountability, and strategic counsel
- Contributing to board development, governance best practices, and ethical stewardship
- Navigating nonprofit regulations, bylaws, and organizational policies
May serve on or support the Governance & Nominating Committee.
Strategic Growth, Partnerships & Organizational Scale
Ideal candidates bring experience in:
- Enterprise-level strategic planning and long-range growth initiatives
- Evaluating and advancing partnerships, joint ventures, or strategic alliances
- Scaling organizations, programs, or services in a sustainable manner
- Assessing new markets, service lines, or impact opportunities
- Balancing growth objectives with mission alignment and risk management

Mission, Programs & Impact
Ideal candidates bring experience in:
- Advancing mission-driven programs and services
- Evaluating program effectiveness, outcomes, and community impact
- Ensuring alignment between mission, strategy, and resource allocation
- Providing subject-matter expertise relevant to REMNANT's core work
- Guarding against mission drift while supporting responsible growth
May serve on or support the Programs & Impact Committee.
Fundraising & Development
Ideal candidates bring experience in:
- Building and nurturing donor relationships
- Making donor calls and personal visits
- Planning and managing fundraising events
- Developing giving campaigns (annual appeal, Giving Tuesday, capital campaigns)
- Cultivating major gifts
- Overseeing donor stewardship (thank-you letters, updates, impact reports)
- Engaging board members in fundraising
- Developing fundraising strategy and revenue goals
