Lead Craft & Activity nights for travelers & Facilitate Cultural Exchange!

MUST BE A RESIDENT OF CHICAGO OR THE CHICAGO AREA TO APPLY.

SCHEDULE

We are looking for volunteers to assist with weekly Wednesday or Thursday evening events for 1.5+ hours each. Timing is flexible but volunteer must decide a consistent time for all events. Must start at or after 5pm Example: Wednesdays 6-8pm or Thursdays 5pm-6:45pm.

HI Chicago is looking for volunteers to lead a weekly craft/activity program for guests at our bustling Chicago hostel; which hosts travelers from across the globe. This "Creative Flow" event features a different craft/activity each week and allows guests to meet and interact with each other, at the hostel. These events also serve as an opportunity for guests to learn some information about what is happening at the hostel and around the city.

The volunteer will be trained to independently lead this event, and are welcome to plan/provide suggestions for activities. They will setup and cleanup the event The volunteer will serve popcorn and actively engage guests in conversations and offer recommendations throughout its duration.

Previous "Creative Flow" activities have included: cookie decorating, watercolor painting, cardmaking, collage-making, friendship bracelets and more. We welcome volunteers to develop new themes, activities, games and more, and to celebrate heritage months or holidays through the activities.

REQUIREMENTS

You must be 18+ to be a volunteer at our welcome parties.

Most tasks involved in welcome parties require standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 20lbs.

HI USA is 501(c)(3) non-profit education association. Our purpose is to "inspire a deeper understanding of people places and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, the revenues we receive through overnight stays and memberships is reinvested in mission delivery.
