About PromiseVoice | Communications, Editorial & Public Narrative
PromiseVoice is MAP’s communications and media division responsible for editorial storytelling, magazines, newsletters, public communications, campaigns, and digital narrative strategy. The division shapes how MAP communicates with the public across written, visual, and digital platforms.
Role Overview
MAP is seeking a Magazine Writer Manager to oversee and coordinate magazine writing contributors, editorial workflows, and content development across MAP’s magazine and long-form communications initiatives.
This role is responsible for helping ensure that magazine content is:
- Organized
- High-quality
- Consistent
- Timely
- Mission-aligned
The Magazine Writer Manager will support writers through coordination, feedback, structure, and editorial planning while helping maintain a strong and unified editorial voice across PromiseVoice publications.
This is a communications leadership and editorial coordination role focused on writing management, storytelling quality, and publication consistency.
Core Responsibilities
Writer Coordination & Editorial Leadership
- Coordinate and support magazine writers and contributors
- Help assign topics, deadlines, and editorial priorities
- Maintain organization and accountability across writing workflows
- Support a collaborative and creative editorial environment
Magazine Content Development
- Oversee development of articles, interviews, essays, and feature stories
- Ensure stories align with MAP’s mission, tone, and communications standards
- Help shape editorial direction and publication themes
Editorial Review & Quality Assurance
- Review drafts for clarity, consistency, structure, and readability
- Support editing and refinement of written content
- Ensure content reflects professionalism and dignity-centered storytelling
Publication Planning & Workflow Management
- Help manage editorial calendars and publishing timelines
- Coordinate communication between writers, editors, and creative teams
- Ensure content moves efficiently from development to publication
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with communications, social media, and creative teams
- Coordinate with PromiseStudios for visual storytelling and publication assets
- Support integrated storytelling across MAP platforms
Mentorship & Creative Development
- Support emerging writers through feedback and collaboration
- Encourage thoughtful, emotionally resonant, and impactful storytelling
- Help strengthen MAP’s editorial culture and communications systems
Qualifications
Required
- Strong writing, editing, and editorial coordination skills
- Experience managing writing projects or contributors
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Ability to maintain deadlines and editorial consistency
- Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values
Preferred
- Experience in journalism, publishing, editorial leadership, or magazine writing
- Experience working with collaborative writing teams
- Familiarity with editorial workflows and publication planning
- Interest in storytelling, communications, culture, or social impact writing
Commitment
- Volunteer leadership role
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum 6-month commitment required
- Remote / hybrid collaboration
